Mary Keating Esq is a lawyer, disability advocate, and author.  Since 2015, she has been named one of the Top Attorneys of North America by Who's Who.

 

Ms. Keating received her JD from Yale Law School in 1985 and her BA (cum laude) in English and religion from Manhattanville College in 1979. She is admitted to both the Connecticut and New York bars.

 

Her practice areas include estate planning, probate and estate settlement, and real estate law, with an emphasis on residential transactions, commercial leases, and construction contracts.


She was appointed to the State Rehabilitation Council by Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell in 2008 (re-appointed by Governor Dannel Malloy in 2011) where she served as Secretary and Chairperson. She was a speaker at the 1995 ABA Annual Meeting (“From Myth to Fact: Working with Disabled Lawyers and Clients”).

 

Her community service includes working as a volunteer attorney for the Pro Bono Partnership, an organization that assists nonprofit, community-based organizations with their legal needs. She was Vice President/Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Rowayton Library for six years.

 

Ms. Keating has always been a strong advocate for people with disabilities to help make the world more barrier-free. Her memoir in verse, Recalibrating Gravity (Woodhall Press), explores life before, during, and after a spinal cord injury. Her lived experience as a paraplegic for over fifty-two years, successfully navigating imperfect institutions and systems, makes her a compassionate and creative advocate for her clients.
